Review of New World War Number One minicomic by boxbrown: AWESOME!! No seriously! It really was. I felt the similarly about Awesomeness the Musical. Ive's comics, and I guess most comics, are better IN PRINT! You really get a feel that these comics are little episodes in a much grander and linear story involving: zombies, vampires, humans, werewolves, turtles and Warwolves.
It's true! There is a grand linear story to be told there and I'm glad it comes through and I'm glad it doesn't make the little bites any less enjoyable.
One thing nobody has mentioned yet is how fuckoff SHINY this book is! There was a printing error which resulted in every page being awesome super glossy which makes it the best looking thing I have ever done. |

This may or may not be the 50th New World War page I have done and i've loved it all and here are some random thoughts on it.
Originally it was an excuse to draw zombies and explosions and army guys with zips and pockets.
I had and still have a few actiony stories in mind for it but quickly realised I had no interest in actually drawing that kind of stuff myself and scrapped the idea of New World War as a story and started to build it as a setting for stories.
Quite recently I started thinking heavily about what exactly I thought it was about and decided on what you see in that one right there. I was a dude that just kinda zombied around but now I am the possibility of unstoppable action. Don't worry though, you can still enjoy it as just being a cool zombie war thing if you want.
One of the coolest things was when I had a computer that got all fucky and it took me hours to get online, but when I did there was the Warwolf meme. That was my first huge "The Internets loves me" moment.
I think that is it.
PS I have done all my comics for the week. I will see you saturday for the Comikaze thing. There's still time to join if you haven't.

Ledger Award nominations are open. You don't have to fill the whole thing out, just the catagories you want.
Here is an unrelated list of things I did last year: Awesomeness: The Musical (web and print, the rest are internets only) The Future is so Futuristical (me and Grug) New World War COMICS FACE |

It's part of the Emerging Writers Festival which has it's launch on Friday at Trades Hall Bar, corner Lygon and Victoria Streets, Melbourne. It's free, there'll be drinks and I will be there too. Come and say hello and don't be afraid to ask for a hug. |
